Car Insurance For New Cars

Car Insurance For New Cars

With 09 registrations on their way you may assume that car insurance for new cars is more expensive than it is for older vehicles. However, that is not always the case.

Research from a comparison website shows that for the UK's second most popular vehicle - the Vauxhall Corsa - a 35-year-old male would actually pay 20 per cent less for a car insurance policy on a 2008 model than he would for a 1999 model. So those put off the idea of buying a new car because they believe that car insurance costs will be exorbitant have reason to think again.

The reality is that older cars are generally cheaper to insure than newer cars - but this is not always the case. The reason used cars are normally cheaper is because they are less desirable to thieves and are less likely to be driven at high speeds. However, this research shows that newer cars do not have to be more expensive to insure and the emphasis is on drivers to make sure they get the best car insurance deal.

Many are tempted by a year's free car insurance as part of their package to buy a new car. Certainly this is an attractive offer as long as the insurer is offering sufficient levels of cover for your needs. However, those who do take up a free car insurance offer should be careful to shop around in a year's time when the policy is up for renewal because chances are the new premium you receive will not be competitive.
